Letter from the Pledge Masters
Hi!
We are so excited to meet every one of you for the upcoming Fall Rush Term for the Eta Alpha Chapter. Throughout Rush Week, you will have the opportunity to learn more about the fraternity and the chapter, connect with our active members, and, most importantly, discover whether our fraternity resonates with your interests and values.
Alpha Phi Omega focuses on the core principles of Leadership, Fellowship, and Service. Our chapter was founded in 2018, and we welcome all individuals from various major and diverse backgrounds. Our mission is to foster a tight-knit brotherhood where members can grow personally and as a group. By becoming a part of our fraternity, you will find lifelong friendships, engage in enriching experiences, and develop valuable skills.
Rushing APO has been an incredible journey for us. It's been far more rewarding than our initial expectations during our Rush Week. Through our shared commitment to service, we've not only made a positive impact on our community but also experienced personal growth along the way. We've built meaningful connections, and, we've had a ton of fun while doing it! We genuinely hope that you'll feel the same spark of inspiration and decide to become part of this amazing community.
We look forward to meeting all of you!
In Leadership, Friendship, and Service,
Sid Kalidindi and Karl Heinemeier

Rush FAQ
What are the benefits of joining Alpha Phi Omega?
We are a professional co-ed service fraternity. You will have lots of opportunities to be a part of different service projects, get involved on campus, gain lifelong friends, and build leadership skills!
Is Alpha Phi Omega a social fraternity?
No, we are not. However, we do have lots of fun activities for our brothers to bond with one another, so we are, in a sense, a “social” fraternity.
What do you do in Alpha Phi Omega?
As a brother, you will get to participate in many service projects, both on and off campus. We also have lots of different events for our brothers to spend time with one another and build important skills.
Do I have to go through a "rush" process to join Alpha Phi Omega?
Yes, and our rush week is open to anyone. The week starts with info nights where you can learn more about the fraternity and the overall pledge process, and ends with meet and greets where you will have the opportunity to meet and talk to our current active brothers. Both events will help you familiarize yourself with the pledge process and get an idea of what it is like to be a brother in Alpha Phi Omega.
In order to be eligible for a bid, you are required to attend one info night and 2 LFS events (see Bid Eligibility above for specifics). Special exceptions may be made if you contact pledgemaster.etaalpha.scu@gmail.com beforehand. For helpful reminders of our rush week events, it is highly recommended that you fill out the Interest Form above.
Does Alpha Phi Omega haze?
No. We do not tolerate any type of hazing. This type of behavior is strictly against Alpha Phi Omega's policy.
How much is joining going to cost me?
Dues vary depending on the term, but we try to keep them as low as possible. They’re usually around $50-100 per term. Pledging dues are a bit more expensive to cover pledge events and workshops.
What are the members of Alpha Phi Omega like?
We are a very diverse group of people, so it’s hard to really paint a generic image of a brother. However, if you’re into Leadership, Friendship, and Service you’ll be a great fit!
Do you wear letters?
Alpha Phi Omega is a Greek organization, so we do wear letters. However, you are not allowed to wear letters until you are an official brother. We take pride in our letters as a symbol of Alpha Phi Omega’s principles and brotherhood.
What does it mean to be a pledge of APO?
The pledge process lasts from 6 to 8 weeks. Every week, you will attend pledge meetings that prepare you to become an active brother and help you bond with your pledge class. You will also attend different events throughout the process that are centered around Alpha Phi Omega’s core principles of Leadership, Friendship, and Service. At the end of the pledge process, you will be initiated and officially become a brother. We typically estimate pledging to be as time-consuming as a 2-unit class, so be sure you have time in your schedule!
I was in Alpha Phi Omega on another campus, how do I join Santa Clara’s chapter?
If you were previously an Alpha Phi Omega member our chapter will honor that so you do not need to go through the rush process again. Just contact us and let us know!
I already belong to a fraternity or sorority, can I still join?
Absolutely! We encourage everyone to join.
